Entering the Body (Breath, Body, Mind)

Parveen Nair31 minRecorded 20 July 2023

What this class works with

An introductory template class establishing the foundations of embodied practice: awareness of body, breath, and mind through a repeatable sequence. The spine is built segmentally through posterior tilts and ragdoll rounds, side bends with arm circumduction, and dynamic pendulums that launch into a floating chair and Malasana, before stepping back into Pashvottanasana and flowing through downward dog, high plank, and child/cat/cow. The class closes with windshield wipers and a slow offering of the limbs into Shavasana.

In this class

  • •Dynamic pendulum with heel-lift launching into floating Tadasana, floating chair (Utkatasana), and floating Malasana
  • •Side bend with shoulder lift, hip swing, arm float and circumduction, alternating sides
  • •Step back into Pashvottanasana (half-splits stance) with soft elbows and forward/back weight shifts
  • •Three-legged downward dog transitioning through high plank into recurring child / angry cat / cow wave pattern
  • •Double-bent-knee bounce in downward dog with head and shoulders bouncing like a water balloon
  • •Windshield wipers with counter-rotating head, offering legs and arms individually to the floor into Shavasana
