What this class works with
The second episode of the wave exploration, continuing directly from the previous class, with the body met as waves and ripples appearing and dissolving rather than as something to arrange. Parveen names the specific risk of a repeated sequence: when we know something too closely we tend to bypass it, so the invitation is to look for presence rather than familiarity. The class runs the wave at every scale, reversing the previous order by taking the small wave through child, cat and cow first and only then opening into the big wave.
In this class
- •The wave at four scales: the standing arm wave, the small wave through child, cat and cow, the big wave between high plank and downward dog, and the kneeling wave rising from child
- •Side bend into rotation, dropping into a ragdoll over one side of the pelvic half and floating it from side to front to side
- •Stepping out to Goddess pose with a circular sweep of the floor, opening into Ardha Chandrasana with a contract and expand, or Parshvakonasana as the alternative
- •Parshvottanasana with blocks, moving the hips forward and back to play between extending and flexing the knees
- •Warrior One wave, sinking into the undercurrent and rising to the surface
- •ragdoll with hands clasped behind the back, then supine with the legs on a chair, shaking each leg loose to notice how differently the left and right respond, and Shavasana
